Simply Unique

The Quilpie Shire is steeped in history and filled with experiences, characters and beauty you won’t find anywhere else in the world. Make your first stop in Quilpie the Visitor Information Centre, Museum & Gallery.  Located in the main street of town, the centre showcases everything you need to know about this region. And you don’t have to go far from Quilpie to find new experiences. You can start fossicking for opals at Council’s fossicking area only two kilometres west of Quilpie where you can fossick for free and no permit is required, and only seven kilometres from Quilpie, you’ll find Baldy Top Lookout. Once atop this hill, you’ll be amazed by the breathtaking panoramic landscapes. You have not seen the Australian Outback until you have seen the sunset from Baldy Top. ; Make sure you don’t miss taking a trip to Eromanga to visit the Natural History Museum, which boasts recent internationally-significant fossil discoveries, including “Cooper”, Australia’s largest dinosaur.
